Kenya has numerous coffee growing regions but two stand out for specialty coffee for Star Spangled Roasters: Kiranyaga and Nyeri. Both are along the slopes of Mount Kenya north of Nairobi. We were lucky to get our hands of some Nyeri peaberry coffee from the Kieni processing mill. It is a really citrus cup and in our opinion, if you like your coffee with milk/cream you might want to try it without because we feel as if the citrus qualities stand up better in a black cup or with just some sweetener. The berry and citrus fruit flavor offers a nice sweetness but does have a touch of tartness. We preferred this coffee in a pour over as it accents the citrus notes.
